The Environmental Health Section conducted a food safety inspection and awareness program for all food handling outlets in Alotau Town. This is part of MBPHA’s routine public health mandate to ensure safe food is sold to the public and prevent foodborne illnesses.

To develop the Milne Bay Provincial Malaria Strategic Plan some years to aligned to the National Malaria Strategic Plan. The workshop aimed to review current malaria burden, identify priority interventions, and set targets for elimination.

The CMV KAP Survey was conducted to assess the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Community Malaria Volunteers in supporting malaria prevention, diagnosis, treatment and reporting at the village level in Milne Bay Province. Results will inform CMV training, supervision and supply support.

Malaria remains a key public health issue in Milne Bay Province. To improve case management and reporting, the Disease Control Unit conducted district-based refresher training for healthcare workers in line with the National Malaria Treatment Protocol and the Provincial Malaria Strategic Plan.

The PHC KAP Survey was conducted to assess the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of both community members and healthcare workers regarding Primary Health Care services in Milne Bay Province. The findings will inform planning, health education, and service delivery improvements.

The training was conducted to strengthen community health capacity by equipping Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) with skills to provide basic health services at the village level, with a focus on early detection and home-based management of malaria.

To assess health service delivery in Milne Bay Province, engage with Provincial Government and MBPHA leadership, visit key health facilities, and discuss ongoing WHO support for Universal Health Coverage, emergency preparedness, and digital health in the province.
